With the front side of the column of the previous row wrapped in front, and in the purl series - from the rear. Then the relief ledge is formed on the front side. 
The figure on the right shows a pattern of relief patterncheck pattern. In this case, 2 bars with a crochet are knitted in front and 2 at the back. In the next row on the front side it is necessary to knit in reverse: that in the previous row was knit from the front, then on the wrong side knit in front. The following figure shows a relief pattern on the left, which forms a winding line on the front side. Crossing the bars, you can create patterns that look like pigtails. In the figure to the right, the first row begins with twoair loops, 1 column with a crochet. The next two pillars are knitted, wrapping the third and fourth columns in front. Then, the remaining second loop is grasped from the front. Next, they knit by drawing.
