2016 – Year of the Monkey.You can make an original souvenir as a New Year's gift for friends and colleagues with your own hands. This will require quite accessible materials and several hours of free time. So, let's prepare the following materials:

• dense white fabric for the monkey's trunk;
• Red velor and white fur for the cap and scarf;
• sintepon;
• thread;
• instant coffee;
• cocoa powder;
• cinnamon ground;
• vanillin;
• PVA glue;
• acrylic paints;
• black gel pen;
• an unnecessary toothbrush;
• brushes for drawing.

First, let's prepare the pattern. Here it is given on an A4 sheet. You can redraw it onto the sheet yourself or trace it from the monitor, adjusting it to the desired size.Fold the fabric in half and outline the tail, head andtorso. Using the drawn lines, sew both layers of fabric together. On the tail in the upper part of the bend we leave about 2 cm unsewn, and we sew the head and body completely, leaving no unstitched areas.We cut out the parts of the toy with allowances of about 0.5 cm.To ensure that the seams on the finished toy are elastic and the stitching does not pull, we cut out teeth on the seam allowances without cutting 1-2mm to the stitching.We make cuts on the head and body blanks. On the body – between the front legs, and on the head – in the lower part. We turn out the parts through these holes.Separate the ears from the head with a line. The ears will remain flat; we will not stuff them with padding polyester.We stuff the prepared parts of the monkey with padding polyester.We sew the holes by hand. We attach a thread to each piece for hanging to dry.Let's make a dye solution. For him 0.5 tbsp.pour 70 ml of boiling water over instant coffee, stir to dissolve and add 0.5 tsp. cocoa powder, ground cinnamon and vanilla. Stir everything, adding finally 0.5 tbsp. PVA glue. We cover all the parts of our toy with this coloring composition. It is easy to apply with a toothbrush. It allows you to quickly paint the figurine without saturating it too much. The liquid should be applied to the bristles little by little, carefully distributing it throughout the fabric. We try to wet only the surface of the fabric, and the padding polyester inside should remain dry. This way we will avoid streaks and smudges when drying.You can dry the workpieces on a radiator, but moreWe achieve high-quality and quick results by drying them in the oven. The painted surface is baked and becomes rigid due to the glue included in the coloring solution.You can draw on such a surface with a simple pencil, and use it to sketch the monkey’s face. Like that:Paint with acrylic paints.You can apply glitter to boots and mittens. Using a black gel pen we draw eyelashes, a mouth, eyebrows, and freckles. We turn the monkey's body with the seam towards us and sew the tail and head on this side. We sew the seam on the head with the seam on the body. This way they won’t be visible, especially since everything in this place will still be covered with a scarf.From red velor we cut out a part thatThe shape resembles a quarter circle with a radius of 7 cm. For the edge we take a strip of white fur, which is used for sewing soft toys. Instead, you can cut a strip of fleece or knit it from fluffy threads. We also cut off a piece of this material about 1.5 x 3 cm for the brush on the cap. We fold this piece in half and sew the free edges together. Then we tie it with thread in the shape of a tassel.We sew the cap in the shape of a cone, sew a prepared tassel onto its top and trim the cap with a fur strip along the bottom edge.Cut a strip from the same red velorapproximately 2 x 25 cm, to both edges of which we sew the same tassels as on the cap – it will be a scarf. We wrap the scarf around the “neck” monkey, and sew the hat with stitches to its head.You can hang the toy on the Christmas tree by hooking it onto a branch with its tail, or you can attach an elegant ribbon to the tail and hang the toy from it.
