Coffee table made from cut wood and hemp do it yourself

If you live in a private house, or care forchalet, you probably sometimes have to cut down old trees. After that, they can go for firewood or be sent for recycling. But from such a hemp or a cut of a tree, you can make your own original coffee table, which will be a wonderful addition to the home interior. If you do not have a suitable tree, lookmaybe somewhere near your house a tree has recently been cut down, leaving a stump from which to cut. Now in the cities they cut a lot of trees, but nobody needs stumps anyway. Well and at the worst, if in the district you will not find anything suitable, you can buy a cut of the tree in the store. Prepare the necessary materials and get to work. The content of the article:

Materials:

  • A tree cut or stump about 25 cm thick
  • 3 metal legs for a table 35 cm long (can be made with 4, as you like more)
  • Sander
  • Screwdriver (or drill with such a nozzle)
  • Wood antiseptic
  • Spray glossy varnish for wood
  • Matte wood oil

Table manufacturing steps: Step 1: Wood processing The first thing you need to clean the wood with a broom or a dry cloth from dirt, insects and cobwebs. After that, you can proceed directly to the processing of wood.

  • Treat the cut with a special wood preservative and place it in the bag for several hours.

  • Walk on the surface (on both sides) with a grinding machine with a rough nozzle to remove all irregularities.
  • At the same time be careful with the bark of the tree at the edges, slightly round the edges, but do not remove too much.

  • Treat the cut again with an antiseptic for better protection.

Step 2: Lacquering the edges of the cut side of the future table, that is, the bark of the tree, cover with spray gloss varnish. It is better to do this on the street or later to ventilate the room well. Wait until dry. Step 3: Installing the legs of the table

  • Now you need to attach the legs. Determine which side will be on top of the table.
  • Turn the cut upside down and spread the legs evenly on it.
  • Attach them with a screwdriver.
  • Place the table on the legs and leave it overnight for the wood to fully absorb the antiseptic.
  • Step 5: Surface moisture protection The base of the table is ready, it remains to make the top coating. Each section of the tree has its own unique ornamental pattern, so we tried to preserve its natural look and did not use colored paint. And since cups or bottles are often placed on the coffee table, you must also ensure that the surface is sufficiently resistant to moisture. Therefore, for coating it is better to use matte oil for wood, which at the same time will give the surface a beautiful reflux and will protect from moisture. Apply one coat and leave to dry for 24 hours, repeat this step 4 times.

    • Pass on the surface of the grinding machine with a smooth nozzle.
    • Apply the last layer of matte oil and leave to dry for 24 hours again.
    • Put a table in the room and congratulate yourself on the work done.

Such a table will not only decorate the room, but also bring into it the spirit of oneness with nature. And he will surprise the guests and show the subtleties of your taste.
