- charcoal.
Step 1: Firstly, it's worth placing the pebble layer on the bottom of your tank. This will ensure that the water after irrigation sinks to the bottom of the tank and the roots of your plants will not be in the water. If there are drainage holes in your pots, you can skip this step. Add a layer of charcoal over the pebbles to avoid the appearance of an unpleasant odor.
