Doll as a mirror of the soul of its author

Any creation begins with a plan, with sparkscome idea. Not all master classes can show this, but often the masters draw sketches of the future doll, so as not to miss anything and not forget. Depending on which image is planned, select the material. However, sometimes a master can work with only one material, trying to improve all the time and achieve the ideal in his creations. The author's dolls are created in a variety of techniques: they can be made of plastic, papier-mache, fashioned out of polymer clay or porcelain , sewn from the fabric, have a soft body or wire frame, etc. Today we will talk about skeleton dolls, for the production of which material such as paperclay is used. In translation, its name means "paper clay". This material is a compliant mass created on a cellulose basis (it is worthwhile to distinguish between a polymer-based material and a clay-based material). From it you can sculpt and model anything. Papermaking has many advantages among other plastics:

it is light and does not prone to sticking dust during molding, like baked plastic;
you can easily sand the product so that the sandpaper will not leave any scratches on it, and from small flaws you can get rid of a simple putty;
The paperclice is like a canvas, which you cancoloring in any desired color, based on the scale of the doll's costume and its image, it is also worth noting that it is easy to paint on the paperclay with acrylic paints (their advantage over oil is that they dry faster).

From theory to practice, from idea to creation

Do not be discouraged and afraid that you will succeedlike the masters, after all, they once too began with a small. Be prepared for not very successful specimens at first, but believe that after many practical classes you will be able to make your own doll of dreams with your own hands. After creating a sketch of the future doll and trainingAll the necessary materials can be taken for work. The initial task is to make a frame and stand, on which the doll can sit, stand or occupy the posture that you have conceived.

The frame itself can be made of wire. Wire is better to use thin steel or copper (copper is suitable with a cross section of 2.5-3.5). A wire frame is a very important moment for a wireframe doll, because if you make it unstable, the pupa will fall down, it will not be able to stand on its feet. Also, with all the care to approach the anatomical features and proportionality of the parts of the body of his creation, then to blind them properly.

So, according to the proportions, we twist from the wireskeleton. Prepare yourself a few lengths of different lengths so that you can not stop this while working. You can take two roughly identical wires and bend them in half - so you will get two pieces that will have four ponytails from below and a fold at the top. Form the neck and bend the tails perpendicular to it to make the shoulders. Then twist all the tails below - you will get a waist. Dilute them at the waist to the width of the shoulders and form a pelvis.

Further you will need new pieces of wire,to make legs and arms. Bend one piece and rewind it in the pelvis area to the already formed frame (you can use a thermo gun, medical plaster, tape or the same wire to attach it). To leave the handle, take one more piece, attach it to the shoulder area and bend from both sides. Attach these handles to the common frame.

In addition, you can twist the wire and other parts of the body, like a chest or an ass for a doll. This is not necessary, but with them it will be easier then to wrap the frame.

In the legs will be five delays. Wrap them in a spiral wire with a smaller cross-section, so as not to twist each other. If the hands or legs of the pupa are longer than you wanted, you can cut off excess.

Check the symmetry of the body. Then work begins on its formation. Some masters use windings for this purpose with cotton thread impregnated with glue, others prefer batting or sintepon for volume, it is also possible to take foil, toilet paper, and for the final winding - floristic tape or medical bandage with PVA primer. We build the body and we sew it with knitwear. At this stage it is necessary to determine the pose of your doll, because when the "carcass" dries and hardens, it is unlikely to change it.

We turn to the modeling of the head and hands, as well as toface modeling. For this we need such a wonderful material - a paperclay, which is called self-hardening plastic. However, it does not look like plastic. You can make a sculpture, increasing any number of layers, until you achieve ideal features. If you dilute it with water (to make a gruel), then you can smooth out the roughness or smooth an acute angle. When you are done with modeling, so that the head, face, and hands will look the way they should, you will need to coat the surface with a zero skin (at the end you can take and polishing the nails cap).

Paint all open body parts with acrylicpaint (very carefully, making sure that there is no staining). Then paint the doll's face, apply her make-up, make eyes (you can use the purchased ones, draw a bead, make them from Fimo, etc.), sponges, cheeks. You can add at the end of the sequins and apply the last layer of matte varnish for acrylic - this will protect the doll from dust and moisture.

Eyelashes and hair do at your discretion - you can take a thread, dreadlocks, fur, special elements for dolls or real natural wigs.

Clothing can be sewn directly on the doll, then it can notwill shoot. If you want to make her a wardrobe, then you need to create outfits separately. Do not forget about shoes, headgear, jewelry and other accessories that your puppets need.
