How to decorate a door handle with polymer clay, a master class on creating pens in the form of owls

Craftswomen and masters in decorative and applied artsIn art, a wide variety of crafts are created from polymer clay. Original jewelry, interior decor elements and much more can be made from this wonderful and flexible material. Plastic can be baked or self-hardening. Baked polymer clay is called so because its hardening process occurs under the influence of high temperatures from 110 to 130 ⁰ C. Those who have not worked with this material before should know that the temperature conditions indicated on the clay packaging must be strictly observed, otherwise you risk hopelessly ruining the craft. If you do not bake it long enough, the product will look normal, but will quickly collapse, but if you overexpose the clay in the oven, the product will burn, which, you must agree, we do not need at all. In addition, with excessive heat treatment, there is a risk of harmful chemical compounds being released from the plastic. In this article, we will create polymer clay door handles in the form of owls. It will take very little time and a minimum of materials, most of which are in every home. As a result, you will get an original design solution that will refresh the interior. Such products will become simply irreplaceable for a child's room.How to decorate a door handle with polymer clay. Master class on the creation of pens in the form of owls. Photo №1We will need:

  • Thermoplastics (black, blue, white, dark and light purple, pink and orange);
  • Stationery knife and wavy blade;
  • Roller (paste-machine);
  • Toothpicks;
  • Shape in the form of a heart (medium size, you can use a confectionery mold) and a small round mold with a diameter of 0.7 cm;
  • Handles for furniture made of metal (round) can take old and worn;
  • Emery;
  • Acrylic paints of black and white colors;
  • Varnish for plastics.

So, let's start decorating the handles with polymerclay. If you have clay left over from previous works (the color is not important), knead it until it is well-plasticized, roll it into a layer of about 2 - 3 cm and wrap the handle. Cut off the excess clay with a knife. Carefully smooth out the joints and uneven areas. Now knead the light purple plastic and roll it into a similar layer. If you do not have an acrylic rolling pin or a pasta machine, you can take a regular glass bottle. Just make sure that there are no scars, seams or nicks on it. Again, cut off the excess clay and smooth out the joints. You need to give the workpiece the appropriate shape, so select and sharpen the ears on one edge (see photo). Put our workpiece in the oven.How to decorate a door handle with polymer clay. Master class on the creation of pens in the form of owls. Cut out a blank from it with a heart-shaped mold and with the same cutter divide the blank into two drops (see photo). Cut out semicircular pieces from each drop with the same cutter. Now take our pink blanks and attach them to the future owl. Use your fingers to stretch the clay a little so that it takes the shape of the ears.How to decorate a door handle with polymer clay. Again, you get two slightly larger droplets. We cut off the rounded parts, and we get two blanks that look like wings. Place the blanks below the pink plastic. Give the desired shape with your fingers, as in the photo.How to decorate a door handle with polymer clay. Master class on the creation of pens in the form of owls. Place the white circles as shown in the photo. Form a 5 mm long drop from orange thermoplastic. Place it with the sharp end down. This is the nose of our owl. It needs to be flattened with your finger, making it flat.How to decorate a door handle with polymer clay. Master class on the creation of pens in the form of owls. Photo №5We make two small ones from black thermoplasticballs and flatten them. These are the pupils. Attach them to the centers of the white blanks. From white plastic, make two flat cakes with a diameter of 1 mm and two flat cakes with a diameter of 2 mm. Attach them to the black blanks.How to decorate a door handle with polymer clay. We lay out 3 wavy pieces on the owl's belly from wing to wing. On the wings, use a toothpick or a needle to press grooves in the form of feathers. Also decorate the pink ears with grooves from the eyes to the top. We send our blanks to bake in strict accordance with the instructions on the package. After the owls have cooled, we begin to tint the wings. We apply white paint to them. Let it dry a little and remove the excess with a napkin. We do the tinting of the pink parts of the owl in a similar way, only we take black paint.How to decorate a door handle with polymer clay. Master class on the creation of pens in the form of owls.
